Alina Kodatt, LMHC
Hi, I'm Alina Kodatt, and I'm truly honored to be part of the team here at Jacksonville Counseling Services.
Imagine this: You've been carrying a story that's felt heavy for far too long. Maybe it's the weight of anxiety that shows up uninvited, the quiet ache of grief that lingers, the frustration of feeling "stuck" no matter how hard you try, or the echoes of past hurts that still color how you see yourself and your relationships. You're not broken—you're human. And every human story deserves to be heard with kindness, curiosity, and respect.
That's why I do what I do.
For the past 15 years, I've had the privilege of sitting with individuals and couples as they share their stories. I've walked alongside people facing depression, anxiety, life transitions, loss, trauma, ADHD, bipolar experiences, and so much more. What I've learned, over and over, is this: When someone feels truly seen and heard—without judgment, without hurry—something beautiful begins to shift.
I believe with all my heart that every person carries deep dignity, even when life (or relationships, or our own thoughts, or brain chemistry, or circumstances) has bruised or buried it for a while. The good news? Hope isn't wishful thinking. It's real. And one of the most powerful ways I've seen hope return is through a safe, steady therapeutic relationship where we can:
-
Gently listen to your story
-
Notice the patterns that have kept you feeling trapped
-
Experiment with new ways of thinking, feeling, and showing up in the world
-
Build practical, compassionate tools that help you feel more grounded and peaceful
A little about me: I grew up in a warm Cuban-American home in South Florida, which taught me early on the beauty of family, stories, and resilience. I earned my undergrad at Covenant College and my master's in counseling from Covenant Theological Seminary. These days, I live right here in Jacksonville with my husband (who serves in full-time ministry at a local church) and our four kids—who keep life wonderfully lively and full of love.
Faith has shaped how I see the world, but please hear this clearly: my office is a welcoming space for everyone. You don't have to share my beliefs to feel at home here. My deepest hope is that whoever walks through the door—whatever your background or worldview—feels safe, valued, and free to heal in whatever way makes sense for you.
I take a warm, holistic approach, drawing from tools like cognitive behavioral therapy, attachment theory, emotion focused therapy, family systems, and more—always tailored to what you need in this season of your life. Mind, body, and spirit all matter, and we honor every part of you.
If any part of your story is asking for a kind, experienced listener to help you find your way back to more hope, more peace, and more of the real you... I'd be truly grateful to sit with you and listen.
You're not alone in this. Whenever you're ready, I'm here.
