Angela Thompson
Hi, my name is Angela Thompson, a Masters Student Counselor in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at Liberty University. My life is centered on my commitment to Christ, my husband of twenty-seven years, my two sons, and my passion for helping others. I am dedicated to serving and nurturing others with compassion and kindness, guided by my faith.
I earned my bachelor’s degree in education from the University of North Florida and spent over 20 years in elementary education. During that time, I had the privilege of teaching and serving hundreds of students, addressing not only their educational pursuits but also supporting their emotional and mental health needs. This holistic approach was incredibly rewarding and further fueled my passion for helping others.
I have a passion for supporting individuals struggling with eating disorders and navigating significant life transitions such as menopause, the empty nest, and caregiving for aging parents. Also, I am driven to help counsel cancer patients and their caregivers, bringing empathy and understanding from my own experience as a cancer survivor. My counseling approach is client-centered and collaborative, providing a safe and compassionate space for personal growth and healing.
In my practice, I employ evidence-based methods like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), while also being open to integrating alternative approaches. My faith is integral to my life and I work from a biblical worldview. I am happy to incorporate faith and spirituality into our sessions if that is your wish. It would be a great privilege to embark on your journey, offering support, encouragement, and tools to help you move forward with hope towards healing.
